Message

Melbourne... acclaimed the food capital of Australia... because here in Melbourne, we present a truly real multicultural food affair, with cuisine from all different parts of Asia. Melbourne truly has one of the best restaurant communities in the world, not just Australia - diverse, exciting, adventurous, value for money and best of all - tasty!! And I am proud to say that Members of the Chinese Restaurateurs Association of Victoria are pleased to be a part of this great creation!

We wish to recognize excellence in the Asian Restaurant Industry. We do encourage restaurants to bring to you more new horizons of cuisine to explore and enjoy.

And, the contribution continues with the special presentation of more new culinary events during the month-long celebration of the Asian Food Festival in September, as the slogan goes "Spring Rolls" Into the Asian Food Festival. From Chinatown, Australia's best Asian food street to the outlying suburbs, Melbourne has some of the finest eateries in the world.

With great assistance from our supporters in this great City of Melbourne, we would like to celebrate with a toast from Banks Road Vineyard from regional Bellarine Peninsula, a part of our great Victorian Multicultural state. Listen to the announcements made by Radio 3AW and Magic 1278 as they break and make news, informing us of all the various venues. As we complement our meals not only with the wines but also with an Asian beer like Beerlao, why not travel with the Yarra Trams so that you can relax and enjoy whilst being "chauffeured driven" to all the exciting venues where the tables are set with linen cleaned by South Pacific Laundry. Enjoy the enormous range of dishes, including great Poultry Palace's produce, cooked with exciting and tasty sauces by Lee Kum Kee. Celebrate and enjoy all these aromatic and awesome dishes presented by our Restaurateurs, some of whom have been trained right here in Melbourne at the William Angliss College, excelling in their culinary and hospitality trade to win those prestigious Royal Selangor Pewter Awards even! If you choose to drive, let the Royal Auto guide you to all these remarkable venues to celebrate, be it a party or just a simple meal!

Let's Yum Seng! to another successful event.

It's no secret that Melburnians love great food. Sampling new tastes in waterside cafes and atmospheric laneways is one of our favourite pastimes. Our rich multicultural heritage has brought foods from around the globe to Melbourne. With passionate chefs, an amazing range of fresh produce and exotic spices available in city markets, we have all the right ingredients for a world-class gastronomic culture.

From Chinatown to Docklands, even the most seasoned diner is presented with delicious surprises. Enticing aromas blend with boutique designs and the energy of steaming kitchens to create an ever fresh, distinctly Melbourne experience.

In its 22nd year, the Asian Food Festival once again highlights the incredible value of a diverse and inclusive multicultural society. With over 30 restaurants and a fantastic cultural program, the festival not only showcases the tastes of Asia but evokes the land of origin.

On behalf of the City of Melbourne, I invite you (and your taste buds!) to take a
journey to Asia. Make your way through Chinatown's progressive dinners or drift
down the Yarra on the ‘Floating Yum Cha Luncheon’ boat: with so many events on
offer, you’ll love the 2008 Asian Food Festival!
